♨️ How to Enjoy Onsen (Etiquette)
<
1. Naked is Normal! In Japan, we enter the bath completely naked. No swimsuits allowed. It might feel shy at first, but once you’re in the water, nobody cares!
2. Wash Before You Soak The bathtub is for soaking, not washing. Please sit at the washing station and clean your body thoroughly before entering the shared tub.
3. “Kakeyu” (Rinsing Water) Before stepping in, rinse your body with hot water using the small bucket. It helps your body adjust to the temperature.
4. Keep Your Towel Dry Don’t put your small towel in the bathwater. You can place it on your head or set it on the side. Tie up long hair so it doesn’t touch the water.
5. No Photos or Phones Using smartphones or cameras in the dressing room and bathroom is strictly prohibited.
6. About Tattoos Traditionally restricted, but rules are changing. If you have tattoos, ask staff before entering or cover small ones with skin-colored tape. Private baths are also a great option!
7. Dry Off Before Leaving Wipe your body with your small towel before going back to the dressing room to keep the floor dry.

Useful Items

Introducing items that I found helpful during my camp here!

Insects & First Aid

Insect repellent is a must as there can be mosquitoes, horseflies, and caterpillars! I always bring “Power Shinrin-ko” (strong mosquito coils), “Kinkan” for bites, and a first aid kit.

Lighting & Power

My husband loves the Petromax Kerosene Lantern for its atmosphere. It’s very bright, so a reflector (sold separately) is recommended to reduce glare. Bringing spare parts is also safe. And don’t forget a portable power station for lights and charging phones! A Jackery is useful for disasters too.

Play Equipment

Child playing with grass sled
Grass Sled
There is a grassy slope, so kids love grass sleds! It can also be used to help carry luggage (lol).
Soap Bubbles
And "Soap Bubbles"! This is a classic (lol).

Review (My Thoughts)

Good Points
  • The view from the North Site is amazing! You can see the sunset!
  • Anyone can use the fireworks site if you register!
  • Has Onsen and Private Sauna.
Concerns
  • You pay at the reception, then have to take documents to the management building.
  • A bit of a walk to the Onsen.
This time we went camping in Kumamoto Prefecture! ( *´艸`)

I took two of my friends (camp beginners) with me.
This campsite is very popular among campers, and I had an impression that it's always full on holidays.
However, they recently increased the number of sites, so the waiting list is shorter and it's much easier to go!
Also, the price is cheap and wallet-friendly (^^♪
Mt. Unzen seen across the Ariake Sea from the Onsen and North Site was incredibly beautiful! I really want everyone to see it!
My friends were also very satisfied, and it was a great camp this time too (^^♪
Cost this time
Who: 2 Adults, Children (5yo, 2yo) (Total 4)
Site: 1 Tent
1 Night 2 Days : 1,500 yen / 2 Nights 3 Days : 3,000 yen
For your reference ( ੭˙꒳ ˙)੭
