International participation is welcome! In the 2025 festival, international tourists were seen joining the locals to carry the massive dragons. It’s a truly immersive experience!
Three Major Highlights
🐉Heroic White Dragon Dance
The stars of the festival are the four white dragons. The performance, driven by hundreds of bearers, is breathtaking! The Child and Youth Dragons start the show, followed by the massive Parent Dragons roaming the streets.
🏮Stage Events & Food Stalls
Enjoy performances on the main stage and explore the vibrant street stalls. From delicious local food to shooting games and lotteries, there’s plenty of fun for kids and adults.
🎆Grand Finale Fireworks
The festival concludes with about 3,000 fireworks! The musical fireworks show is particularly spectacular, painting the Kikuchi night sky with brilliant flowers for a moving finale.

Location: Around Kikuchi City “Furusato Sousei” Citizen’s Square
Parking: Temporary parking is available nearby. Please check the official website or local signs for details.
Traffic: Traffic regulations will be in place around the venue. Please arrive with plenty of time.
Tip: There is a footbath (Ashiyu) at the venue. If you get tired of walking, it’s a great way to refresh!

Knowing the characteristics of each dragon makes the festival even more enjoyable!
Male Dragon (Oryu)
A dazzling golden dragon. With a length of about 50m and a weight of 500kg, it is controlled by about 80 bearers shouting “Seiya!”. Its heroic dance is the highlight of the festival.
Female Dragon (Meryu)
A graceful silver dragon. It dances in harmony with the Male Dragon, enchanting the audience with its supple and beautiful movements.
Youth Dragon (Wakaryu)
Length: approx. 21m. Carried by about 100 energetic high school students, bringing youth and vitality to the festival.
Child Dragon (Koryu)
Length: approx. 15m. It is adorable to see elementary school students working hard to carry this dragon with their small hands.
