and a Funny Mistake 😅
Dark Room technology isn’t just about staying cool. Using that “darkness” makes camping more fun! But, I also have a funny failure story due to that darkness… (lol).
Planetarium & Movies at Noon!
If you close the skylights on the Cocoon DR, it becomes pitch black even at midday. In winter, you need a lantern even during the day! We use a portable projector to project a starry sky on the ceiling or have a movie marathon… it’s like a secret base, and the kids absolutely love it!
However, it’s so dark that you lose track of time inside. Great for sleeping in, but don’t forget an alarm if you want to be active!
I Messed Up… My Tearful Story
One winter night, I saw twinkling stars inside the tent… Yes, I had burned a small hole in it! Because it’s a Dark Room tent, even the tiniest pinpoint of light (from outside) stands out incredibly well inside (bitter laugh). Be careful with fire near the tent! Orz
Real Voice of a User (Q&A)
Yes, once you get used to it! But for safety, I recommend doing it with two people initially. Especially on windy days, it’s dangerous, so never force it.
I highly recommend bringing a small step stool! The Cocoon is tall, so putting on the Roof Fly (the top sheet) at the end is tough if you aren’t tall. Just one stool makes the work much easier and safer.
The bag is relatively spacious, so it’s okay! The trick is to squeeze the air out firmly while folding. Using the pole case as a core to roll it up helps make it compact.
Absolutely! The waterproofing is perfect (Master Series quality). Since the living room is so huge, “Hunkering Down” camping (playing games or watching movies inside while it rains) is actually super fun.
